Content Management is a way to organize and maintain a large amount of content contributed from many writers/users. Content management software is used to administer such a system. There are three types of content management systems:
- Enterprise
- Web
- Document Management
Many of us are familiar with Microsoft Office SharePoint, which is a commercial package on an ASP.NET platform using a SQL Server. It is often the CMS of choice for large corporations that must share many types of data and content throughout regional and global offices. Another common CMS is TWiki, used on a Perl platform. This blog site’s content is managed by WordPress, a CMS on a PHP platform.
A Web Content Management System (WCMS) is a CMS software application that is implemented as a web application to create and manage HTML content. Joomla is one of the most well-known WCMSs. A WCMS provides tools for users who have little knowledge of programming or markup languages to create and manage web content. Basically, a WCMS is the non-technical web content administrator’s answer to web-site maintenance.
Why am I telling you all of this? Because many, if not all, of you have a web site. And that web site obviously has content. Managing that content can become a burden for you, especially if you’re not in the business of web content creation and maintenance. That’s where a Virtual Administrator can help you. A VA who knows WCMS can make a huge difference in your business because h/she can do the daily web content administration for you, freeing you up to do what you do best and love to do.
Isn’t that the reason you started your business — to do what you’re passionate about? Don’t get bogged down in the admnistrative details of running your business. Give that job to your VA.
